Start with the Word
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Whew. These are some of the most powerful words and truth that we desperately need to sink deep into our hearts and minds. We have God’s very breath given to us for our good. What an incredibly beautiful gift.
As we begin to plan and think about what we are going to lead the girls in our ministries in, we must start with the Word. This is God’s plan for us. This is the revelation that He has given. This is the truth that leads to faith (Romans 10:17). This is the truth that is alive and active that cuts through our sinful ways and changes us (Hebrews 4:12). This is the truth that teaches, reproofs, corrects, and trains us that we may be complete and equipped (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
God has given us everything we need to know Him, see the beauty of His redemptive plan, our hope for the future, the mission for our lives, and the growth that we are to pursue in His Word. This Word is where we start, continue, and finish.
As you are daily swayed by cultural shifts in a fallen world stand firm on the Word.
When your fear begins to creep in and tell you that someone won’t like what you’re teaching, stand firm on the Word.
When you are lured to teach a false gospel, stand firm on the Word.
When you are encouraged to relax one of God’s commands, stand firm on the Word.
When you are tempted to compromise the truth of Scripture, stand firm on the Word.
When you are distracted by the things of this world, stand firm on the Word.
When doubt enters your mind, stand firm on the Word.
We have nothing to offer on our own. Our ideas, thoughts, and words are sinful at best apart from Christ. We don’t have experiences or illustrations that will change lives, but God has given us every word that we need to lead girls in the Bible.
As Paul prayed for the church in Colossae, I pray that,
“you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.” Colossians 1:9b-12
Every girl needs God’s Word. You need God’s Word. Dig in and study. Allow the Word to drive your planning. Look to the commands of Christ when you think about service projects. Follow the guidance of Scripture when you make decisions. Ask for wisdom everyday.
May we be good stewards of the Word. - Becca
